Same deal as Stud

Antes, then two cards down and one up, then three more up and a last one down, with betting on every street. Small bets on third and fourth street, big bets from fifth.

Seven cards
  • Ace of spades, dealt face down
  • Three of spades, dealt face down
  • Six of spades
  • Five of spades
  • Four of spades
  • King of diamonds
  • King of hearts, dealt face down
  • Face down: only its owner sees it

Low is good

Aces are low
An ace counts as 1, the best card you can have.
Straights and flushes do not count
Five in a row or five of a suit is still just a low hand.
Pairs are bad
A pair makes your hand worse. Avoid them.
Compare from the top
Read the highest card first. Any 6 low beats any 7 low.
No qualifier
Any hand can win if it is the lowest, even king high or a pair.
  1. The wheel

The best low there is. Straights and flushes do not count against you, so this is perfect.

    • Five of clubs
    • Four of diamonds
    • Three of hearts
    • Two of spades
    • Ace of clubs
  2. Six low

Read a low from its highest card down: a six low beats any seven low.

    • Six of diamonds
    • Four of hearts
    • Three of clubs
    • Two of clubs
    • Ace of hearts
  3. Seven low

    Still a great low.

    • Seven of spades
    • Six of hearts
    • Four of diamonds
    • Three of clubs
    • Two of hearts
  4. Eight low

The worst low that still counts in an eight-or-better game.

    • Eight of hearts
    • Seven of clubs
    • Six of spades
    • Five of diamonds
    • Four of clubs

The bring-in is flipped

In Razz the player showing the highest door card brings it in. A king is the worst card, so a king showing brings it in. If two door cards tie, the higher suit (spades, then hearts, diamonds, clubs) brings it in.

From fourth street on, the player showing the lowest hand acts first.

  • Ana

    • Four of diamonds
  • Ben

    • King of clubs
  • Cal

    • King of spades

    Highest card

    Brings it in

  • Dee

    • Ace of hearts
Ben and Cal both show a king. Spades outranks clubs, so Cal brings it in. Dee’s ace is a low card here, not a high one.

    9-8-5-2-A

  • Plays in the hand
  • Does not play
  • Face down: only its owner sees it
Nia’s five spades are not a flush in Razz, just a 6 low, and a 6 low beats a 9 low.
